Redmond's Black Raven Brewery wins gold and silver at World Beer Cup 2010

The Black Raven Brewing Company in Redmond has claimed two gold medals and one silver medal in the Brewers Association World Beer Cup 2010, a global beer competition that evaluates beers from around the world and recognizes the most outstanding beers being produced today.

Gold, silver and bronze medals in 90 beer-style categories were awarded April 10 during the World Beer Cup Gala Awards Dinner at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers in Chicago.

Black Raven Brewing Company won:

• A gold medal for the Tamerlane Brown Porter in the style category "Brown Porter." The Tamerlane Brown Porter is available throughout the year at the brewery taproom and select alehouses, bars and restaurants.

• A gold medal for the Coco Jones Coconut Brown Porter in the style category "Herb and Spice Beer." Coco Jones is available on a very limited basis at the brewery taproom.

• A silver medal for the Barrel Aged La Petite Mort in the style category "Wood and Barrel Aged Strong Beer." Barrel Aged La Petite Mort is available annually in December at the brewery taproom.

World Beer Cup 2010 winners were selected by an international panel of 179 beer judges from 27 countries. An impressive field of 3,401 entries from breweries in 44 countries made up the competition. More than 3,800 breweries in 100 countries were invited to compete.
