Many businesses in Redmond work hard to develop sustainable business practices and a new event at this year’s Redmond Derby Days will showcase their efforts.

Impact Eco-Fair will be held from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, July 10 in the Redmond Senior Center parking lot on City Hall campus, 8703 160th Avenue NE.

The Eco-Fair includes vendors with tips and resources for going green, a green car show, solar-powered music stage, fun for kids and prizes for the whole family.

In addition, the fair will present a Green Redmond Business Showcase, displaying Redmond business’s sustainability practices for event visitors to view. Currently, the City of Redmond is looking for stories to share.

According to Jill Smith, Employer Outreach Coordinator for R-TRIP (Redmond Trip Resource & Incentive Program), “We hear about the great efforts Redmond businesses are reaching in sustainability all the time, but the public doesn’t always get to hear these same stories. The Green Business Showcase will be a fun way to share these accomplishments with visitors to Derby Days. By sharing these efforts with the public, we hope to showcase our local businesses and to inspire others.”

Businesses within the Redmond city limits interested in including their programs in the Impact Eco-Fair should contact Jill Smith by June 10 at jesmith@redmond.gov or (425) 556-2448 or e-mail up to a 250-word description of their program with contact information.

Programs can be about recycling, composting, LEED certified buildings, alternative commuting programs and more. A photo or graphic of the program is encouraged. There is no fee for a business story to be included in the Impact Eco-Fair.
