The popularity of yoga in this area is no surprise to B.J. and Alison Eliason, owners of Redmond’s Discover Yoga. On Feb. 16, they will celebrate their 10-year anniversary as owners of the studio, which has been located in Redmond for almost 20 years.

Instructors and students of the studio will be celebrating the studio’s 10-year anniversary all month long with specials and current and new students will be invited to several free classes. More information is available on the studio’s website, www.discoveryoga.com.

The studio was founded by Ellen Morrell and located for many years above Mills Music and then moved three years ago to its current location near Soul Food Books and the Redmond Trader Joes at 15744 Redmond Way.

Several of the studio’s current instructors have a long history with the Redmond yoga studio. Certified yoga instructor Kim Saganski has been practicing yoga for more than 15 years.

“I started practicing once a week with Ellen and soon realized that this would be a life-long practice for me. My yoga practice has made me much more aware of my physical, mental and emotional condition on a daily basis. I achieved my original intent of becoming more flexible and stronger, but I attained so much more than I ever expected,” Saganski said.

Allen Moore is a software engineer and one of Discover Yoga’s certified yoga instructors. He began classes at the studio in 2007 to help resolve his low back pain.

“I had some great teachers. My back became stronger and my interest in yoga deepened as I took more classes and workshops. In 2011, I enrolled in the studio’s Deeper Study program and by 2012, I began teaching. For me, yoga has been an enabler of personal change, a toolkit for self-transformation on many levels. And the Discover Yoga community has provided the supportive environment that has been key to that transformation,” Moore said.
