Old Fire House hosts young women's self-defense classes; first session is Nov. 10

An "Easy Self-Defense for Young Women" class, taught by Aikido Kids! will run Tuesdays, Nov. 10-24 at the Old Fire House Teen Center, 16510 NE 79th St. in downtown Redmond.

The class is intended for girls ages 12-19. Moms are also welcome. Cost is $98. To register, call (425) 556-2300.

The curriculum may include safety planning, awareness, setting boundaries, use of the voice, basic physical skills, escapes from common grabs and using carried objects for defense. Exercises, role-playing and one-on-one partner practice will help participants develop confidence.
