‘Bat Boy: The Musical’ to play at SecondStory Repertory

SecondStory Repertory, the professional theatre ensemble at Redmond Town Center, presents “Bat Boy: The Musical,” the hit based on the popular Weekly World News stories, Oct. 31-Nov. 29.

Bat Boy was first seen in the Weekly World News in 1992 and quickly became familiar in American pop culture. The musical premiered in Los Angeles in 1997 and has been a favorite in theatres across the country ever since.

The show now comes to SecondStory Repertory, staged by managing director Caitlin Frances. The cast includes Phil Lacey, Jenny McMurry, Mark Chenovik, Carson Shelton, Sean O’Bannon, James Padilla, Matt Lang, Stephanie Holser, Claudette Hatcher, Alexandra Bluin, Kate Swenson and Isaiah Crowson.

The show is assistant directed by Sarah Simmons, with music direction by Nissa Kahle, choreography by Kristin Culp, scenic design by Craig Wollam, lighting design by Rob Falk, costume design by Lissa Cunneen, and stage managed by Jen Klos.

Opening night for “Bat Boy: The Musical” is Friday, Oct, 31 (Halloween), at 8:15 p.m., with a $5 discount on opening night for those wearing a costume. The night before is the “Pay What You Can” preview; otherwise, performances are on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:15 p.m., with Sunday matinees Nov. 9, 16 and 23 at 2:15 p.m. Tickets are $27 general admission; $21 for students, seniors and educators, with I.D.
