Continuing the health-care discussion | Letter

This is a reply to Brandon Juhl’s ‘Trump don’t care’ letter in last week’s Redmond Reporter.

Juhl says the current Republican health bill will deprive at least 24 million people of health care, and that what we need is a single-payer program like Bernie Sanders wanted, since health care is a basic human right.

While health care is not a basic human right, Juhl may be correct when he says that what we need is a single-payer program (government monopoly) over health care. Then, without competition from the health-care industry, surely health-care costs will come down.
