City seeks input on new impact fee proposal

The City of Redmond is updating the methodology for park impact fees for the first time since 2006 to reflect changes in the updated parks capital improvement plan.

Park impact fees are assessed on new developments of all types to help pay for public park projects that accommodate the growth in the residential and employment populations. The state allows the assessment of park impact fees in order to support infrastructure planning in relation to the Growth Management Act. Impact fees collected over the past decade have contributed to the acquisition and development of park projects such as the Redmond Central Connector, Downtown Park, the expansion of Perrigo Park and more.

Residents, business owners, developers and other interested parties are encouraged to review the full proposal on the city’s website at www.redmond.gov/parkimpactfees. This includes a full explanation of the proposal, a presentation and an online poll. On the website, they can also request a meeting with the project manager to discuss the proposal. A public meeting is planned for April 19 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at Redmond City Hall, 15670 N.E. 85th St.
