Redmond High Drama presents ‘Chicago: The Musical’

The Redmond High School Drama Department will present “Chicago: The Musical” Nov. 10-12 and Nov. 17-19 at the Redmond High Performing Arts Center. Showtimes are at 7 p.m. and tickets are $10 on Friday and Saturday and half price on Thursdays. The show is suitable for PG-13 audiences.

A true Broadway institution, “Chicago” is a universal tale of fame, fortune and all that jazz. Set in the legendary city during the Roaring ‘20s, “Chicago” tells the story of two rival vaudevillian murderesses, Velma and Roxie, who are locked up in the Cook County jail. Not one to rest on her laurels, Velma enlists the help of prison matron Mama Morton and slickster lawyer Billy Flynn. Flynn turns Velma’s incarceration into a media frenzy, thus preparing the world for a splashy showbiz comeback. But Roxie’s got some tricks of her own up her sleeve…

The No. 1 longest running American musical in Broadway history, “Chicago” has amazed audiences all around the world with its show-stopping songs and exciting dance numbers.

“The Redmond High Drama Department is brimming with talented students who have been working hard for many weeks to assemble a show that is sure to mesmerize the audience,” reads a press release.

Stage manager Erika Beehler says audiences should, “expect to be wowed by incredible choreography done by our own Ben Broughton and Jing Jing Wang, awesome lighting done by Isabella Pollock and Rebecca Bailey, phenomenal orchestration from Mr. Robertson and our fabulous band and an overall stunning show!”
