Redmond’s Lefferts to dance in ‘The Nutcracker’

Local dancers — including Redmond’s Kaelyn Lefferts — will join guest artist Nukri Mamistvalov in Emerald Ballet Theatre’s (EBT) 10th anniversary production of “The Nutcracker” with brand-new sets and the Rainier Symphony Ballet Orchestra. Performances will take place at 2 p.m. Dec. 3-4 and 10-11 at the Northshore Performing Arts Center in Bothell.

Lefferts, 17, will debut in the role of the Sugar Plum Fairy on Dec. 3-4. Lefferts is a junior at The Overlake School and has been dancing at EBT for the past six years. She has studied at Oregon Ballet Theatre, Ballet Austin and Ballet Chicago summer intensives. She was a top 12 Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) finalist in Salt Lake City, and competed at the finals in New York City in 2015.

Daniel Chernyavskiy, a sixth-grader at Willows Preparatory School in Redmond, will play Clara’s mischievous brother, Fritz, in “The Nutcracker.”

The four matinee performances are ideal for children to attend. Tickets are $20 for youth under 17, $33 for seniors and $38 for adults and are available at www.npacf.org or (425) 298-3449.

Nonprofit children’s groups and veterans are invited to attend the dress rehearsal at 10 a.m. on Dec. 3. Tickets are $12 each (minimum order: six tickets) and must be purchased through EBT by Nov. 29. Visit www.emeraldballet.org.
