Redmond’s Norman notches Eagle Scout rank

Redmond Boy Scout Troop 550 recognized Blake Norman as the troop’s 119th scout to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. He is a senior at Redmond High School and will be studying mechanical engineering after graduation this June.

Blake’s grandfather, Lewis Norman, and Dr. Lew Fink founded Troop 550 at the Redmond United Methodist Church in 1964, and the troop has remained active for more than 50 years. Blake’s father, Russell Lewis Norman, earned his Eagle rank in 1968.

One of the requirements for the Eagle Scout rank is completion of a service project; Blake’s project was a reconstruction of the exterior sign at the Church of the Holy Cross in Redmond, and was completed last September.

A ceremony to honor Blake’s Eagle rank achievement will be held at 1 p.m. March 4 at Redmond United Methodist Church.
