National Council of Jewish Women to present special guest speaker

Shalom Bayit, helping women and children rebuild peaceful homes after domestic violence, is just one of several outreach programs of the National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW), Seattle Section.

On Tuesday, Sept. 16, “Election 2008: What’s At Stake, An Insider’s View” will be presented from 6:30-9 p.m. at The Summit on First Hill, 1200 University St., Seattle. Guest speaker for the free event is NCJW legislative director Sammie Moshenberg.

Moshenberg is the recipient of the National Capital Area YWCA’s Racial Justice Award, NCJW’s Hannah G. Solomon Award, the Ruth Osborne Award from the Women’s Studies Program at George Washington University and was selected by Women’s Enews as one of 2008’s “21 Leaders for the 21st Century.”

The NCJW, Seattle Section also gives scholarships to young Jewish men and women applying to college or Jewish adults who need job retraining.
