Lambert to introduce new gym equipment for parents at Marymoor Park

July 19, 2012 · 4:50 PM

King County Council member and Redmond resident Kathy Lambert will join other county officials on Saturday to introduce the newest MOMentum gym at Marymoor Park at 6046 W. Lake Sammamish Pkwy N.E. near Redmond.

The MOMentum project installs outdoor fitness equipment near playgrounds at public parks where parents can work out while watching their children's activities. With stationary fitness equipment powered by one's own momentum, parents can exercise and converse while their children remain within sight at the playground.

Five pieces of exercise equipment for arm, leg and core strengthening and aerobic exercise will be available for park users near the playground at Marymoor Park. The outdoor gym faces new playground equipment designed for toddlers.

Council member Lambert, who represents Redmond and also serves as vice chair of the board of health, will talk about how the new exercise equipment contributes to lifelong physical fitness habits for families.

The dedication ceremony will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Marymoor Park, adjacent to Parking Lot J. The opening celebration with free activities for families, demonstrations, guided fitness classes and healthy snacks will continue until 1 p.m.
