King County Councilwoman Hague to host town hall May 10
May 30, 2008 · Updated 12:40 PM
The terms climate change, sustainable communities and environmentalism are becoming part of everyday language.
Metropolitan King County Councilwoman Jane Hague is hosting a community town hall meeting Saturday, May 10 at Bellevue City Hall, 450 110th Ave. NE, to help remove the mystery behind these terms and to present practical, everyday ideas for protecting the environment.
Helping the environment can be as simple as bringing reusable bags with you to the grocery store, said Councilwoman Hague, Chair of the Councils Parks and Utilities Committee. The Town Hall is an opportunity to see common-sense examples of what we can do as individuals and communities to protect the environment for now and for future generations.
Recognized leaders in the areas of green building, energy recycling, transportation and yard care will give presentations at the meeting. There will also be speakers discussing climate change efforts by local governments. Guest speakers will include Bellevue Mayor Grant Degginger and Washington State Lands Commissioner Doug Sutherland.
