Lake Washington School District hires new principals

The Lake Washington School District (LWSD) has announced several elementary principal changes for the 2008-2009 school year, including the addition of two new principals.

Mary Cronin, the current principal at Franklin Elementary, will move to the new elementary school on the Sammamish Plateau, now known as Rachel Carson Elementary.

Kim Fricke will be the new principal at Franklin Elementary. Fricke joines LWSD from Clovis, Calif. where she has served as a building administrator since 2005. She has also served in the roles of learning director and instructional specialist at both the elementary and high school level, as well as a literacy coach and teacher support provider. Prior to her administrative roles, Fricke taught at the elementary level in both California and Washington. She taught in Bellevue and completed her student teaching in Lake Washington.

Larry Pollock, the current principal at Wilder Elementary, will retire in June. Steve Roetcisoender, the current principal at Thoreau Elementary, will move to Wilder Elementary.

Mindy Mallon will be the new principal at Thoreau Elementary. Mallon has served as one of LWSD’s Consulting Teachers since 2003. Previously, Mallon was a Title I teacher at Redmond Elementary and a special education teacher at Finn Hill Junior High, as well as serving as a teacher and a building administrator in California.
