Eastlake loses to Connecticut team, 14-13, after extra inning at Little League World Series
Eastlake — which features Bryce DeLay, an incoming Overlake School student — scored a run each in the first and third innings, while Westport scored two and three runs in the second and third innings, respectively, bringing the score to 5-2.
Eastlake jumped ahead at the top of the fourth inning with 10 runs on 11 hits, bringing the score to 12-5, scoring only one more run in the fifth inning. Westport closed in on the Sammamish team's lead by the bottom of the fifth inning with one run in the fourth and seven runs in the fifth.
With the score tied at 13-13 by the bottom of the sixth inning, the game went into an extra inning and ended when Westport scored a run at the bottom of the seventh inning.
This was the second time Eastlake played Westport in the series. The team played the Northeast team earlier in the week and lost.
Westport will move on to play in the U.S. championship game. The World Series championship is Sunday.
