PSE to hold Energize Eastside workshops at Redmond community center
Puget Sound Energy (PSE) will hold a series of workshops to provide people with an opportunity to learn more about the Energize Eastside project and provide feedback about potential route segments.
Neighborhood and community leaders serving on sub-area committees will gather information from these workshops to share with the project's Community Advisory Group (CAG), which will recommend a route to PSE later this year. After the community has provided input, PSE will ultimately select a preferred route that balances customer input, community and energy demands on the Eastside and an evaluation of requirements and constraints.
The workshops will be focused on specific geographic areas. For the north sub-area, which includes Redmond, Kirkland and north Bellevue, the workshop schedule includes:
- Workshop 1 – Wednesday: Opportunity to learn about the project, examine route segments and identify factors to evaluate the segments
- Workshop 2 – April 16: Opportunity to score each segment based on factors developed in Workshop 1
The workshops will be held from 6:30-9 p.m. at the Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center auditorium at 16600 N.E. 80th St. in Redmond. For more information about the project and a survey, visit www.energizeeastside.com.
Following the workshops, the north sub-area committee will meet on May 7 from 6:30-9 p.m. at the Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center auditorium to review outcomes from the workshops and develop findings to share with the CAG. Members of the public are welcome to attend and observe this meeting.
PSE's Energize Eastside project proposes to build new, higher capacity electric transmission lines on the Eastside to upgrade the existing transmission system and provide more dependable, long-term power. The project will build about 18 miles of new transmission lines between Renton and Redmond. Redmond's portion of the proposed route includes the Grass Lawn and Willows-Rose Hill neighborhoods.
The City of Redmond and other community stakeholders are participating on the north sub-area committee and CAG. Contact Pete Sullivan, senior planner, for more information at firstname.lastname@example.org. PSE's project staff can be reached at email@example.com or 1 (800) 548-2614.
