Getting prepared for emergencies

Are you prepared for an earthquake? Major emergency? Or how about a wind storm that knocks your electricity out?

The Redmond Police Department will put on a free Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) session presented by a certified CERT instructor. The session will be held on Wednesday, August 27, at 6:30 p.m. at the Public Safety Training Room, 8701 160th Avenue NE.

Topics to be covered include:

• Disaster response skills

• Fire safety

• Light search and rescue

• Team organization

• Disaster medical operations

• Assist others when professional responders are not immediately available to help
