17-year-old dies from stab wound from knife assault

A 17-year-old female has died as a result of her injuries from a stab wound to the chest she received July 18.

At 10:50 p.m. that night, Redmond police responded to reports of a fight near a business at 15700 Redmond Way. Officers and fire personnel arrived, provided first aid to the victim, Cara Neil and arrested a 25-year-old Daniel J. Haggart. The suspect and victim were acquaintances and residents of Redmond. Haggart remains held at King County Jail on charges of attempted murder.

The Neil died Wednesday and an autopsy is pending. Redmond police detectives, working with the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, anticipate amending charges.

Neil's family has requested privacy.

"Our thoughts are with all those impacted by this tragic event," states a press release issued by the Redmond Police Department.

A fundraising page has been started at gofundme.com/bxz4so for the Neil's family. In addition, Bank of America in Duvall is also accepting donations for the family.
