LWTC to offer evening program for its multimedia design degree

Lake Washington Technical College (LWTC) was recently awarded a $175,000 permanent, annual grant by the Washington State Board of Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC) to fund a new hybrid/evening program for its Multimedia Design and Production AAS degree.

“The new hybrid/evening Multimedia program is designed for working students, so they can pursue a degree at night and online, while continuing to earn a paycheck during the day,” said Dr. Sharon McGavick, LWTC president. “Through this innovative program, students will be able to complete their AAS degree in just three years, while continuing to work full time.”

The new program prepares students for careers as Web designers, print designers, graphic arts technicians and digital/multimedia artists.

The SBCTC grant funding for LWTC’s new hybrid/evening multimedia program will be used for hiring new instructors and purchasing new computers and software. The new program is starting in the 2008 fall quarter and consists of a hybrid of two or three evening classes per week, with additional classes available online.

The program features numerous elective courses, giving students the flexibility to take courses in the multimedia area that interests them the most.

New students can enroll at the start of any quarter. Students currently enrolled in LWTC’s daytime Multimedia program will also be able to switch to the hybrid/evening program at the start of any quarter.
