Redmond to install new construction signage

Next week, new informational signage will be installed at several downtown Redmond construction projects, both publicly and privately funded.

This signage is part of an informational effort by the City of Redmond to make it easier for citizens to learn about the various projects happening downtown, today and in the future.

“Redmond, Creating Choice – Connecting Community” is the phrase that identifies this effort. This phrase points toward the vision for downtown that was developed through many meetings with citizens in 2004 and 2005, from which the City updated its Comprehensive Plan. This vision guides the city in making clear and responsible choices for its downtown.

“I firmly believe in the citizens’ vision for a dynamic and pedestrian-friendly downtown; one that makes Redmond a complete city with a healthy balance of business and residential options and community-wide participation in activities and festivals,” Mayor John Marchione said.

“A complete city is also a connected one. This vision strengthens our physical connections through improved streets, trails and traffic flow while building connections with our neighbors.”

By “Creating Choice,” Redmond will realize its goal of becoming a complete community, Marchione said. Downtown will become a vibrant urban center with a variety of dining, shopping, recreating and living options. Downtown condos will provide living options for singles and empty-nesters, while the city’s single-family neighborhoods will continue to provide options for those who wish to have more space including a yard.
