Redmond City Council president Nancy McCormick has announced that she will not seek re-election for another four-year term, having served for six terms (24 years).

Before her election to the Redmond City Council, she served on the Redmond Planning Commission for three years.

In a press release, McCormick stated, "The decision was reached over a year ago and although I will miss being a City Councilmember tremendously, I am looking forward to the next chapter of my life, undertaking various projects, gardening, reading, traveling and spending more time with family and friends. Representing the citizens and businesses in Redmond has been an honor and I feel that I have been part of many good, if sometimes difficult, decisions for our city. It has been wonderful to meet so many people over the years that I would not have otherwise met. I will miss the exceptional staff of the City of Redmond that I've had the pleasure to work with, on so many issues."
