Arsonist strikes again at Redmond's Grass Lawn Park

An arsonist struck again at Redmond's Grass Lawn Park last Sunday night around 7 p.m., when a soccer goal net was set on fire, according to Redmond Police.
Redmond Fire responded to the smoking net and extinguished the fire, according to Redmond Police spokesperson Jim Bove, who added there was no witnesses and no suspect information.
"There were several ignition points, but no obvious ignition source," Bove said.
Sunday's fire was the fourth one in a 10-day period at the park, which is located at 7031 148th Ave NE. On the morning of Nov. 21, a city parks employee reported two different fires were started in the men's and women's restrooms. The fires were out before the city parks employee arrived, so Redmond Police believe the fire was started overnight, Bove said.
A similar incident happened Nov. 19 at around 5 p.m., when Redmond Fire extinguished a small fire in a restroom at the park. In the restroom fires, paper products were used to start the fire, Bove said.
Bove declined to say for sure that the fires were started by the same person, but did say Redmond Police are suspicious they are related.
"Without suspect information we can't definitely say that all the cases are related, but based on the similarities, it's very likely," Bove said.
