Man arrested for allegedly pulling a knife on Redmond business manager

Redmond police arrested a 27-year-old man for brandishing a dangerous weapon after he pulled a knife on the owner of a downtown Redmond dry cleaning business Monday morning.

Redmond police received a call from the owner of Redmond Cleaners Inc., which is located at 7981 Leary Way NE, at around 11 a.m. The owner told police that he found the suspect outside in a nearby alley, urinating. When the owner asked the suspect to stop urinating, the suspect allegedly pulled out a chrome folding knife and began lunging at the owner, according to Redmond police spokesperson Jim Bove.

The owner "believed that the suspect had been drinking" alcohol, Bove said.

The owner grabbed a pipe from inside his business to defend himself and the suspect then ran away.

Redmond police officers later found the suspect and arrested him at the Redmond Park and Ride lot at 16201 NE 83rd St.

"Sounds as if the suspect was pretty intoxicated, as he was talking incoherently during many of his interactions with officers," Bove said.
