Child missing for five years: Bellevue chief of police appeals to Sky Metalwala’s mother for assistance

This Sunday marks the fifth anniversary of the day that 2-year-old Sky Metalwala was reported missing, and Bellevue Police continue to ask Sky’s mother for her assistance in the case.

On Nov. 6, 2011, 2-year-old Sky was reported missing in Bellevue by his mother, Julia Biryukova, who reported that she left Sky in her vehicle after it ran out of gas in Bellevue. The Redmond resident at the time spoke with investigators on the day she reported Sky missing, however has since refused to participate in the police investigation.

Sky’s father, Solomon Metalwala, has been an active supporter of the effort to locate Sky. To date, investigators with the FBI, Bellevue Police Department and Redmond Police Department have pursued more than 2,500 tips, spent more than 14,000 hours and more than $2 million in this lengthy investigation, however Sky remains missing.

We are more than willing to work with you and your attorney to identify a convenient time and location to discuss Sky’s disappearance. I am convinced you hold the key to finding Sky. The employees of the Bellevue Police Department will not stop searching for Sky, but I cannot emphasize enough the role you play in successfully locating your little boy. As you know, many people have been impacted by Sky’s disappearance and I know they would all welcome your active participation in this investigation. If you decide to accept this sincere invitation, please contact my office directly.”
