DigiPen to host speaker series to close EMP’s video games exhibit

DigiPen Institute of Technology in Redmond will host spotlight talks featuring gaming industry experts as part of the final days of The Art of Video Games exhibit at Seattle's EMP from 6:30-9:30 p.m. on Friday.

DigiPen Institute of Technology in Redmond will host spotlight talks featuring gaming industry experts as part of the final days of The Art of Video Games exhibit at Seattle’s EMP from 6:30-9:30 p.m. on Friday.

Featuring gaming industry leaders, the schedule of speaker and topics includes:

  • 6:30-7:10 p.m. – “The History of Games” by Richard Rowen, executive producer at Glu Mobile and adjunct faculty at DigiPen
  • 7:15-7:55 p.m. – “Creating a Modern Game Score” by Guy Whitmore, studio audio director at PopCap Games, and Stan LePard, composer, orchestrator and owner of Stan LePard Music
  • 8-8:40 p.m. – “Mobile Games” by Patrick Wylie, vice president of Big Fish Games Studios and Lou Fasulo, CEO at Z2Live
  • 8:45-9:30 p.m. – “A Glimpse Behind Interactive Sound” by James Ackley, audio director at ArenaNet and Brad Meyer, audio director at Sucker Punch Productions

The evening-long party dedicated to great gameplay runs from 6-11 p.m. and will also include:

  • Gaming on EMP’s Sky Church screenBoard games and trivia
  • An appearance by Donkey Kong champion Steve WieberRetro and rare gaming with Pink Gorilla and Seattle Retro Gaming
  • Horror gaming in the Can’t Look Away: The Lure of Horror Film gallery
