Exothermic Robotics Club in Redmond qualifies to World Championship robotics competition in April

Exothermic Robotics, a community club in Redmond recently competed in the Washington State Robotics Competition and has qualified three teams to compete in the World Championship at Anaheim, Calif. in April.

Exothermic Robotics, a community club in Redmond recently competed in the Washington State Robotics Competition and has qualified three teams to compete in the World Championship at Anaheim, Calif. in April.

Most of the members in Exothermic are students from Redmond High School (RHS), who make up the teams 10D, 10Q, 10V, 10X 10Z and 575.

At the state competition, all six teams competed against the top 33 robots in Washington. Each team moved on to the elimination bracket, with 10Q and 10Z finishing as quarterfinalists, 10D, 575 and 10X finishing as semifinalists and 10V finishing as a finalist.

In addition, 10Q won the Robot Skills and Programming Skills award, 575 won the Build Award and 10D won the Design Award. The awards won by 10D, 10Q and 10V qualified each team to compete at the World Championship. Also 10D’s entry for the Sustainable Design Challenge has placed second in the world, winning the club $500.

The following students make up the winning teams:

  • 10D: Nikhil Auradkar, Lila Balakrishnan, Eric Burlingame, Samhita Karnati, Leanne Su and Alex Zhou.
  • 10Q: Adam Figurelle, Adarsh Karnati, Priya Nakkiran, Anuraag Polisetty and Aaron Zhang.
  • 10V: Maggie Ankoudinova, Lisa Marie Dias, Aaron Graf, Isabelle Yoon and Lucy Zheng.
