Kedir pleads guilty to three counts of first-degree robbery

Genede Ahmed Kedir pleaded guilty on June 14 to three counts of first-degree robbery for his involvement in Seattle carjackings 10 months ago, according to the King County Prosecutor’s Office. He was also linked to attempted carjackings in Redmond.

Kedir will face a sentence range of 51 to 68 months in prison, and prosecutors will recommend the top amount, according to the prosecutor’s office. He will be sentenced at 1 p.m. June 30 before judge Jeffrey Ramsdell in courtroom W-813 of the King County Courthouse in Seattle.

Kedir originally pleaded not guilty to charges of two counts of first-degree robbery.

The 27-year-old was linked to three of the four attempted carjackings in Redmond on Sept. 19, 2016, according to court documents, and held women at gunpoint in five of the six incidents.

Kedir is in custody at the Seattle Correctional Facility after being charged on Oct. 16 at the courthouse.

A Redmond police patrol officer recovered latent fingerprints from the exterior of the black Honda Civic that had been carjacked in Seattle on Sept. 17 and was seen fleeing the Redmond incidents, documents state. The suspect crashed the Civic in Redmond and he fled the area.

The fingerprints helped identify the victim following a thorough investigation with the Redmond Police Department (RPD) and the Seattle Police Department (SPD), according to the RPD.
