Local congregations to co-host interfaith prayer gathering in support of Charlottesville

Congregation Kol Ami (CKA) and Bear Creek United Methodist Church (BCUMC) will host an interfaith prayer gathering for people of all faith traditions at 7:30 p.m. this Wednesday at 16530 Avondale Road N.E. in Woodinville. They serve the Redmond, Woodinville, Duvall and Monroe communities.

According to a CKA and BCUMC press release, “In response to the violence and hatred of this past weekend in Virginia, CKA and BCUMC invite neighbors to gather together in mourning the growing racism and violence in our society and to reaffirm our dedication to peace, justice, equality and mutual respect.”

The release adds that the congregation and church share a building and a mission — to create a better world for all people. They will be co-hosting Camp Unity later this month through December, and they are also joining forces to adopt a local refugee family.

“BCUMC and CKA are honored to be able to stand together in combating hate and violence and speaking up against racism and anti-Semitism,” the release said.
