Man stabs restaurant employee in forearms with fork, attempts to hit another worker with frying pan | Police Blotter for Aug. 9-15

Tuesday, Aug. 15

Fraud: Redmond police took a fraud report at 11:18 a.m. in the 3000 block of West Lake Sammamish Parkway. A resident called police after being alerted to a fraud by his bank after an unauthorized person attempted to gain access to his personal account.

Monday, Aug. 14

Theft: Redmond police took a report of a stolen laptop at 2:29 p.m. in the 14800 block of Northeast 36th Street.

Saturday, Aug. 12

Robbery: Redmond police took a robbery report at 10:22 p.m. in the 2100 block of 148th Avenue Northeast. A department store employee reported to police that a man had stolen numerous items from the business. Officers located the suspect and arrested him on suspicion of robbery and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Assault: Redmond police took an assault report at 5:37 p.m. in the 16200 block of Northeast 87th Street. A man reported being assaulted near a local shelter.

Assault: Redmond police took an assault report at 2:11 p.m. in the 17100 block of Redmond Way.

A restaurant employee called police after a man lit up a cigarette in the dining room and refused to leave when asked by an employee. The restaurant staff then evacuated all of the diners from the restaurant and into the parking lot while the man continued to sit and smoke inside.

One of the employees told officers he respectfully asked the man again to stop smoking and leave, and after he remained seated, the staff member demanded that he vacate. The suspect then began yelling and cursing and proceeded to grab a fork from a nearby table and stabbed the employee multiple times in his forearms.

While the two were engaged in their skirmish, two more employees came out of the kitchen and helped subdue the suspect. The three employees were able to wrestle the suspect to the ground, but not before the fractious man attempted to hit one of the employees with a frying pan. Aid was rendered to the employee with the fork wounds and the suspect was arrested for assault and disorderly conduct.

Friday, Aug. 11

Theft: Redmond police took a report of a theft of a motor vehicle from a resident’s driveway at 4:49 a.m. in the 16700 block of Northeast 100th Street. There is no suspect information at this time.

Thursday, Aug. 10

Drugs offense: Redmond police took a drugs-offense report at 12:08 p.m. in the 18000 block of Union Hill Road. A local shipping company reported the discovery of large amount of marijuana in a parcel that someone attempted to mail and called police to come collect it.

Wednesday, Aug. 9

Burglary: Redmond police took a residential-burglary report in an apartment complex at 7 p.m. in the 17500 block of Northeast 40th Street. While officers were searching the area, they found another apartment that had been burglarized and had the door left open. Upon investigation, it seemed that both break-ins were likely committed by the same suspect as they both had the deadbolt lock pried out. Investigation is continuing.
