Overlake Terrace to raise funds to battle Alzheimer’s disease and breast cancer

• From 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, Overlake Terrace will host a garage and craft sale and raffle to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association. For information, call (425) 883-0495.

• Staff and friends from Overlake Terrace will also participate in the Alzheimer’s Association’s annual Memory Walk in Seattle on Saturday, Sept. 11. For information, visit www.alz.org/memorywalk/overview.asp.

• A team from Overlake Terrace will walk in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day event, Sept. 24-26 in Seattle. Visit www.passionatelypink.org and search for the team name Ann’s Hair Razors to make a donation.

• Last year, David Standring, personal preferences coordinator at Overlake Terrace, shaved his head before an audience and collected donations to show support for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. He’s planning another “Shave-A-Thon” on Friday, Oct. 8 and this time will also “sell” wax strips to have his legs waxed.
