Redmond High’s robotics club competes and wins awards at VEX Robotics World Championships

The Redmond High School (RHS) robotics club, Exothermic Robotics, competed in the VEX Robotics World Championships this past weekend and won several top awards.

The Redmond High School (RHS) robotics club, Exothermic Robotics, competed in the VEX Robotics World Championships in Anaheim, Calif. this past weekend and won several top awards.

The 10B team, made up of juniors, won their division and were finalists in the entire competition. The 10D team, a mix of seniors and sophomores, was the finalist in their division and received the coveted Build Award in their division. Team 575, made up of seniors, received the Innovate Award for the entire tournament and received first place in the Design a Game Animation Challenge, an online challenge competition.

RHS had a total of eight teams compete at the World Championships, ranging in experience from rookie teams from Redmond Junior High School to teams with four years of experience. The team, which is mentored by Rick Tyler, also has students from other schools and home-schooled students.
