Redmond police seek to identify suspect in jewelry theft

The Redmond Police Department (RPD) responded to the report of a jewelry robbery at the Sears store in south Redmond at about 1:30 p.m. on Monday.

According to an RPD press release, a dark-skinned male entered the Sears store and approached a sales associate at the jewelry counter, asking to view a ring for his girlfriend. When viewing the ring, the suspect passed a note to the Sears employee indicating that he was armed. No weapon was displayed. The suspect then fled the store with the ring prior to police arrival.

The suspect was described as dark-skinned male, 5-feet 9-inches tall, with a medium build and facial hair. He was wearing a black sweatshirt and glasses. It is possible that the suspect had a female accomplice who is yet to be identified, the release states.

Redmond police are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying this person. If seen, do not approach; call 911. Non-emergency information can be forwarded to RPD at (425) 556-2500, to the attention of Detective D’Amico.
