Redmond schools celebrate Bike to School Day

On May 10, Redmond students, their families, teachers and the community are invited to join schools from around the country to celebrate national Bike to School Day.

Throughout May, seven Redmond schools — Audubon, Ben Rush, Horace Mann, Norman Rockwell and Redmond elementary schools, along with Redmond and Rose Hill middle schools — will promote biking to school through the Redmond SchoolPool Program. The goal of the program is to reduce traffic while giving students a healthy, fun, and safe way to get to school.

Bike to School events work to create safer routes for biking and emphasize the importance of issues such as increasing physical activity among children, pedestrian safety, reducing traffic congestion and concern for the environment.
