Renowned linguist presents free public lecture at The Overlake School

Renowned linguist Bill VanPatten, Ph.D. will give a free lecture, “Ain’t Givin’ It Up: Why Language Fascinates Me” at The Overlake School in Redmond at 7:30 p.m., Feb. 25, in Discovery Hall.

VanPatten, Professor of Applied Linguistics and Second Language Studies at Texas Tech University, is an expert in second language acquisition, bilingualism and language instruction. A popular speaker, he has published several Spanish language textbooks, and has either written or edited numerous additional books and articles. He is visiting The Overlake School’s Classical and Modern Languages Department that day, and will speak as Distinguished Lecturer in the evening.
