Approximately 175 people attended the event, including Congresswoman and speaker Suzan DelBene, King County Council members Kathy Lambert and Claudia Balducci and more than a dozen city council representatives from throughout the area, including Redmond Council members Angela Birney, Hank Myers, Byron Shutz and John Stilin.

The event is named Together Strong after the benefit of strength in numbers that agencies and their clients experience at the center. Together Center is home to 20 health, housing and human service agencies serving more than 25,000 people each year from throughout east King County at the campus.

“The event focused on the many different stories from our unusual campus,” Together Center CEO Pam Mauk said, “and how we ensure people find help when they need it.”

On-campus leaders speaking briefly included Arzu Forough of Washington Autism Alliance & Advocacy, Pran Wahi of India Association of Western Washington, Theresa Winther of Sound Mental Health, Lyndsay Campbell of National Alliance on Mental Illness Eastside and Mark Tornquist of Lake Washington School District Transition Academy. In addition to Congresswoman DelBene, Together Center Chair Margaret Moore and staff Sondra Sciola and Mauk spoke. A Sound Mental Health client Mickayla Risenmay was a featured speaker and brought a standing ovation for her story.  One of the first nonprofit multi-tenant centers in the nation, Together Center was designed first and foremost to lower barriers to finding help. Where east King County residents once needed to travel from Bothell to Renton or beyond to find help at individual locations, people from throughout the Eastside now find comprehensive assistance at one location in downtown Redmond.

Services include medical and dental care, youth shelter, child care assistance, youth and family counseling, supports for disabilities and more.

Together Center is located at 16225 N.E. 87th St. For more information, contact (425) 869-6699 or visit www.togethercenter.org.
