Daryl Martin passed peacefully April 8, 2012 surrounded by his family at the age of 94. Born August 27, 1917 in Kent, WA, his family moved to Redmond when he was two years old. He graduated from Redmond High School having attended all twelve years of school in the Old Redmond School. Daryl worked for Ray F. Snyder in Kirkland before going to work for Texaco on Harbor Island in Seattle, where he drove tanker truck for 30 years with over 2 million safe driving miles. He joined the IOOF in 1944 and was an active member all his adult life. Daryl was the last Charter Member of the Redmond Fire Department and played an integral part of bringing the first First Aid Car on the Eastside to the Redmond Fire Department. In retirement he was a Charter Member of the Redmond Historical Society volunteering one day a week and at the Saturday Market booth in the summer. Throughout his life he enjoyed family, friends, camping, hunting, fishing, golf and other sports.Daryl was preceded in death by his wife Marie (Peggy) Martin after 61 years of marriage. He is survived by his daughters Arleen Woodside of Cour d’ Alene, ID and Claudia Scott of Kirkland, WA., four grandchildren, nine great grand-children and one great great grandson. A Memorial will be held Saturday May 12th at the Old Redmond School Community Center Auditorium at 2:00 pm to celebrate his life and say farewell.In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Medic One or the Redmond Historical Society.
