Thanks for the Rosa Parks Elementary coverage | Letter to the Editor

January 25, 2013 · Updated 12:56 PM

As the previous principal of Rosa Parks Elementary School, I was so very pleased to see so many Rosa Parks staff members and students recognized in last week’s edition.

Alyssa Wachveitl, who teaches her third-graders about journalism, is, along with Jeen Drake, another Rosa Parks teacher, the finest young teacher with whom I had the privilege to work in my 33-year career.

Ryan and Melissa Scott, cited for attaining National Board certification, are true gifts to the kids and school’s community.

Maggie Duffy, cited for her role with the Girl Scouts and science, was in the first graduating cohort at Rosa Parks. Maggie was and remains, simply, a delightful young lady!

If you’d like another example of amazing teaching, incredible relationships, character and compassion between children and a teacher, get out to the school and observe in Jim Anderson’s class!
