Carlson commentary just more Republican partisanship
June 11, 2008 · Updated 2:18 PM
John Carlson’s commentary “Obama, Bush, appeasement” in the May 24 issue of the Redmond Reporter refers to the dangers of “naive idealism,” specifically with respect to Barack Obama’s willingness to meet with America’s enemies.
He uses JFK’s meeting with Khrushchev and the subsequent hardening of the Soviet positions in Berlin and Cuba as an example of the dangers of diplomacy.
He fails, however, to mention the “naive idealism” of George Bush and the neocons that produced the ongoing disaster of the war in Iraq.
Mr. Carlson, I may be idealistic, but I’m not naive enough to believe that your so-called analysis is anything other than Republican partisanship.
