Redmond High School PTSA has voted to endorse the “Reject” position on I-1033.

This is the same position taken by the State PTA, and many PTA Councils and units state-wide. We feel that this Eyman initiative threatens the education reform advances we made earlier in the year by locking in school budgets at recession levels. It then cuts education further by under-compensating for increases in government costs over time.

Lake Washington School District Superintendent Dr. Chip Kimball’s office estimates that by 2015 Lake Washington School District would lose $17.5 million if I-1033 were to pass. That’s enough funding cuts to threaten the jobs of up to 220 teachers and increase class size by seven students per room. Our vote to endorse a “No” vote on I-1033’s campaign was unanimous.
