We need to connect with each other, provide support | Editor’s Notebook

We need to talk to each other and gather peacefully to discuss what’s on our minds these days. It could be about the election or just about life in general. People need to connect and see how everyone’s doing and where we’re going from here.

People from different sides of the political aisle will always butt heads, but we need to try and understand each other and attempt to make things right for everyone. It won’t be close to perfect, but it will be the best we can offer each other. That’s a start. We need to move on together.

And it needs to be done, once again, peacefully.

Last Saturday, a Redmond community group held a Candlelight Vigil for Progress and Redmond’s SoulFood Coffee House regularly holds inspirational community events.

The vigil Facebook event page read, “Let’s JOIN TOGETHER as a supportive and welcoming community to send a message of solidarity, peace, and tolerance toward our fellow citizens of diverse backgrounds.”

SoulFood’s website states, “Sit down and relax. We’re all equals here. At SoulFood, we value the things that make you, YOU!”

These are examples of what I’d like to see more of in our region and throughout our country. We need togetherness in our lives to help each other grasp what’s bothering us and search for solutions.

Last Friday, my wife and I attended a Friendsgiving event with some people we know and many that we had never met before. It was a special gathering filled with smiles, laughter and positive vibes galore. We felt welcomed and came away from the event feeling thankful to be part of their world for an evening.

We hope to connect with everyone again and hope to provide inspiration just like they did that night.
