Mustang football overwhelmed by Skyline | Prep report

Playing the 2010 4A state runner-up Skyline Spartans on their home turf, the Redmond football team was outmatched 56-17 last Friday night in a 4A Kingco contest.
Behind a 15-for-19, 215-yard performance by Spartan quarterback Max Browne, who threw three touchdowns, the Spartans built up a 21-0 lead after the first quarter that was extended to 49-3 at halftime.
For Redmond, Chris Schumacher kicked a 35-yard field goal in the second quarter and the Mustangs reached the end zone twice in the fourth quarter, on a 15-yard pass from Brady Anderson to Jordan Hall and again on a 10-yarder from Zack Wheat to receiver Everett Boker, who caught his first touchdown pass of the season.
The loss dropped the Mustangs to 0-2 in league play and 0-5 overall.
Redmond cross country shines at Big Finn Hill meet
The Mustang boys' team took the top three spots at last Thursday's 4A Kingco cross country meet at Big Finn Hill Park in Kirkland against Roosevelt and Bothell.
Johnathan Stevens won the boys' race by 30 seconds, outlasting teammate Max Dunn with a time of 16 minutes, 57 seconds with Dunn clocking 17:27 and freshman Zach Kirwan right behind in 17:28.
On the girls' side, Megan LeGresley, a freshman running for Redmond, ran 19:19 to win by over a minute over sophomore teammate Kelsey Dunn (20:24).
The Mustangs next race on Wednesday against Woodinville and Skyline at Hartman Park at 4 p.m.
