Mustangs blast Franklin, Eastlake
The Redmond baseball team bounced back from its first loss of the season with impressive back-to-back wins last week.
The Mustangs were upset, 5-3, by Garfield on April 2, but a day later trounced Franklin, 13-2, in a 4A Kingco matchup at Hartman Park.
Then on Saturday, Matt Burrows scattered five hits over six innings as the Mustangs beat rival Eastlake, 7-2.
Senior third baseman Justin Kopak led the offense against the Wolves with three runs-batted-in (RBI) and senior teammate Landon Morris was 2-for-2. Morris also had two hits in the win against Franklin.
Senior Tim Wilson had a monster day at the plate against Franklin, going 4-for-4, including a triple and a two-run home run.
Redmond improved to 9-1 and played at Bothell on Monday after the Reporters deadline. The Mustangs take on Ballard April 9 at Hartman Park.
LW falls to Inglemoor
Inglemoor scored three runs each in the third and fourth innings and then held off a late Lake Washington rally to pull out an 8-5 win in a 4A Kingco baseball contest at Inglemoor Saturday afternoon.
Blake Lively and Joey Semler each had two hits for the Kangaroos, who beat Woodinville, 4-3, at Lee Johnson Field last Wednesday.
LW (6-4) played Roosevelt at Lower Woodland on Monday after the Reporters deadline. The Kangaroos play at Franklin on Friday before next Mondays showdown with Redmond at Hartman Field.
Redmond soccer blanks Bothell
Nick Funaro scored the only goal and Eric Margeson earned the shutout as Redmond blanked Bothell, 1-0, in a 4A Kingco soccer game on Friday.
Funaro scored in the 25th minute on a pass from Ryan McGovern.
The Mustangs improved to 5-1-1 overall and 3-1-0 in Kingco. Redmond played at Juanita on Tuesday after the Reporters deadline.
Bear Creek golf falls short against CPC
Gannon McCahill shot a 46 and freshman Johnie Freatman finished with a 47, but it wasnt enough as The Bear Creek School boys golf team fell to the Cedar Park Christian School 183-200 in a 1A Emerald City match at Echo Falls on Thursday.
