Bear Creek boys qualify for state cross-country meet

Bear Creek's boys cross-country team clinched third place in the 1B/2B district 1-3 championships last Saturday and earned a trip to the state meet this Saturday at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco.

The race at American Lake Golf Course in Lakewood saw junior Joey Hollis lead the way on the 3.1-mile course for Bear Creek with a fifth-place finish in 18 minutes, 33.6 seconds.

Junior David Broaddus took seventh (18:49.3), senior Dylan Kern took 14th (19:51.9), freshman Luke Poling took 15th (19:56.5) and senior Jake Casale took 33rd (21:37.9).

Bear Creek junior Bridget Daugherty took 24th in 23:01.56 in the girls district 1-4 race at Evergreen State College.
