Redmond golfers shine, beat Bothell

Redmond’s Kara Zitzman, Mollie Johnsen and Darcie Richmond are three of the best golfers in 4A Kingco.

And they put that on display on Tuesday at Bear Creek Country Club.

Thanks to Zitmzan’s 39 and Johnsen’s 41, the Mustangs defeated Bothell 213-291 in a 4A Kingco girls golf match. Bothell’s Richmond, who has a full-ride scholarship to play at the University of Washington next year, was second with a 40 at the par 36 course.

Chelsea Smith and Kelly Kennewick each shot 44s for the Mustangs, who ran their 4A Kingco win streak to 51 straight matches.

Redmond rolls past Franklin, 11-0

Joanna French threw a five-inning no-hitter and Charlotte Abrams went 3-for-4 as Redmond softball defeated Franklin 11-0 in a shortened 4A Kingco game. Redmond improved to 7-3, while Franklin fell to 1-10.

Johnson leads Kangs

Kangaroo Janessa Johnson had a career day against Franklin on Monday, going 3-for-4 with four runs-batted-in at the plate, including a three-run home run in the first inning.

She also picked up her third victory of the season on the mound, pitching two scoreless innings and leaving the game with a 15-0 lead as Lake Washington went on to beat Franklin 17-0 in five innings on Monday.

Johnson’s blast was part of a nine-run first inning to start the onslaught. Kassidy Anglin went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored for the Kangs, while Kellie Nelson went 2-for-2.

Lake Washington improved to 7-1 with the win and Franklin fell to 1-9.
