Justin Kopak went 3-for-5 with three doubles as Redmond defeated Franklin 14-3 in a five-inning 4A Kingco baseball game on Friday at Rainier Playfield in Seattle.

Marcus Flynn went 2-for-3 with two runs-batted-in and Trase Pickering went 2-for-3 with two runs scored as Redmond improved to 16-2 on the season. Redmond played at Garfield on Monday, after the Reporter’s deadline. The Mustangs play their final regular-season game at home against Eastlake on Wednesday.

Redmond golf extends streak to 54 matches

The Redmond golf team extended its 4A Kingco girls golf winning streak to 54 after defeating Franklin on Wednesday and Ballard on Friday.

Mollie Johnsen medaled both matches, first with a four-over par 40 at Jefferson Golf Course against Franklin, and then with a two-over par 39 at West Seattle Golf Course.

Redmond beat Franklin, 238-321, and defeated Ballard, 219-269.

Pakzad leads Overlake

Alec Pakzad shot a 37 to get medalist honors at the par-35 Trilogy Golf Course on Thursday as Overlake defeated Bellevue Christian 170-156 in a 1A Emerald City League golf matchup.

Redmond lacrosse closing in on perfect run

The Redmond Lacrosse Club is one game away from a perfect Division II regular season after defeating Mukilteo 6-4 in the final home game of the year on Friday. Redmond High senior John Olin saved 22 of 26 shots and fellow Mustangs John Burke, Harrison Valentine and Tyler Dougherty each had a goal and an assist in the victory.

Mustangs snap three-game skid

The Redmond softball team ended the toughest week of its year on a positive note, beating a top-notch Lake Washington team, 3-2, in a 4A Kingco contest on Friday.

Redmond had lost three straight on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, failing to score a run in any of the contests.

But Redmond (10-6) came back on Friday against Lake Washington (9-3), thanks to Jenny Eisenman’s 1-for-2 performance, with a run and an RBI. Riley Flynn went 2-for-3 with a run scored and Erika Hendron went 1-for-1 with an RBI, not to mention pitching a complete game.

Rogin Hardy pitched a complete game for the Kangs, and helped her cause by going 2-for-3 with a triple at the plate.
