15-year-old Redmond High School student Kelly Kennewick led wire-to-wire and won the Washington Junior Golf Association's District Two Championships, held at Willows Run Golf Club last Monday and Tuesday.
Kennewick, who will be entering her junior year as a Mustang this fall, shot 82-77-159 for her two days of play to notch a three-stroke victory in the 14 to 15-year-old age bracket over Sammie Pless of Seattle who put together a late charge with a division-low final-round 75.
With the victory, Kennewick secured one of four spots for the 54-hole WJGA state championships which will get underway at Overlake Golf and Country Club on Wednesday, July 29.
Kennewick played in the 4A state tournament as a freshman and made this cut this past year, shooting 76-82-158 to finish in a tie for 20th.
