Prep report: Klug leads Owls past Eagles in soccer showdown

Jesse Klug scored a hat trick as The Overlake School boys’ soccer team rolled past 2A Emerald City League foe Cedar Park Christian, 5-1, Monday afternoon at Overlake. Sky Tweedie-Yates scored two goals and Darrell Holmquist netted another as the Owls improved to 1-0 in league play and 2-0 overall. Devon Schmidt contributed to the cause, racking up three assists and Tweedie-Yates had another assist for the Owls.
Stangs sting Wildcats
Rachel Herron and Katie Woodman hooked up twice for goals as the Redmond High girls soccer team handcuffed Mount Si, 2-0, in a nonleague contest Monday at Redmond. Herron scored off a Woodman pass in the 20th minute and then Woodman fed Herron for another goal in the 50th minute.
Owls fly past U. Prep in volleyball
The Overlake School volleyball team swept University Prep, 25-21, 25-13, 25-21, in a Sea-Tac 2B game Monday at Overlake. Alex Weaver led the charge with six kills, 8 assists and eight aces.
Christian Faith beats Grizzlies in showdown
The Bear Creek School’s rally fell short Tuesday as Christian Faith edged the Grizzles in four games in a Sea-Tac 2B North Division volleyball showdown. The game scores were 18-25, 20-25, 28-26, 25-16, 15-13. Junior hitter Maddie Easley led the Grizzlies with 19 kills. Freshman setter Michele Brown dished out 21 assists and fired three aces. Grizzly teammate Dominque DuBois had five kills and four aces. The Grizzlies fell to 0-1 in league play and 2-1 overall.
