Registration is now open for kids interested in playing in the Redmond West Little League organization.
Divisions are available for boys and girls ages 5-18, and scholarships are available for those unable to afford fees. Little League is the world’s largest youth sports organization with over 2.7 million participants in over 100 countries worldwide, and the Redmond West faction has had marked success as of late.
Last August, the Junior softball team won the District 9 tournament and earned a spot as the host team for the Junior Softball World Series, which included teams from Latin America, Europe, Asia and Canada. In addition, the 11-year-old All-Stars baseball team earned a berth into the state tournament in Oak Harbor last July.
“One of the best parts of coaching baseball is working with boys who have never played before, and helping them learn both the physical and mental aspects of the game,” said Brad Lively, coach of the All-Stars. “To see them get caught up in the spirit of the game and become part of a true team with ten or twelve others they may have just met this season is really fun to watch.”
Player evaluations will be held in January for all players age 9 and up, with each athlete getting placed on a team.
