Bear Creek girls notch 1B/2B state golf title
Bear Creek's girls golf team snagged the 1B/2B state championship today at Oakbrook Golf Course in Lakewood. The Grizzlies had 36.50 points and St. John Endicott was second with 35.00 points.

Lakeside defeats Lake Sammamish for girls state lacrosse title
The Lakeside Lions won their ninth Washington Lacrosse girls state championship with a 13-7 victory over locals Lake Sammamish last Friday at Mercer Island High School.
For Lake Sammamish, which finished 14-3-0, Alexandra Johnson led the way with four goals and one caused turnover, while Emily Sokol had two goals and Redmond High's Claire Monsaas had a single goal.
Redmond athletes compete at districts; state is next | Track and Field
Redmond High's Johnathan Stevens was the long Mustang winner at the recent 4A Bi-District Meet at Lake Stevens High.
He took first in the 1,600 meters with a time of 4 minutes, 16.44 seconds. He took second in the 3,200 in 9:10.00.
Local synchro swimmers medal at Region A Championships
Seattle Synchro joined six other synchronized swim clubs from Alaska, Montana, Oregon and Washington May 18-19 in Oregon for the Charlotte Davis Region A Intermediate and Age Group Championships. Many local athletes placed high during the competitions.
Bear Creek qualifies 14 athletes to state meet | Track and Field
The Bear Creek boys track and field team won the recent 2B Sea-King District championship, and the Grizzly girls track and field team finished fifth at districts and won the 2B Academic State championship. Overall, Bear Creek earned nine individual event championships and qualified 14 athletes for state in 13 events.
Bear Creek, Redmond and Overlake golfers are ready for state action

Last week, the Bear Creek seniors earned medalist honors at their 2B district events, and next week they’ll both give their clubs a workout for the fourth straight year at the state tourney at Oakbrook Golf Course in Lakewood. Last year at state, Olson took seventh while Cadigan notched fifth and led her team to a third-place finish.
Newport defeats Redmond, 9-3, in 4A Kingco fastpitch tourney
Redmond High’s fastpitch team lost to Newport, 9-3, on Thursday in the third round of the 4A Kingco tournament at Inglemoor High. Kaija Gibson had two hits.
The Mustangs, 15-8 overall, finished 9-5 in the Crest Division.
Overlake boys doubles teams make state tennis tourney
Overlake boys tennis will send two doubles teams to the 1A state tournament on May 24-25 at the Yakima Tennis Center.
They are: senior Ethan Hayden/sophomore Keshav Ummat and senior Mac Hewitt/sophomore Pranav Harikrishanan.

Overlake’s boys lacrosse team will play Gig Harbor-Peninsula at 7 p.m. tonight in the second round of the state tournament at Peninsula High.
