Mercer Island girls soccer beats Redmond in penalty kicks

Redmond High’s girls soccer team finished its season with a loss to Mercer Island High in penalty kicks in the 3A KingCo playoffs on Saturday night.

Redmond High’s girls soccer team finished its season with a loss to Mercer Island High in penalty kicks in the 3A KingCo playoffs on Saturday night.

The match at Mercer Island High ended 1-1 in regulation time, proceeded into overtime and ended with PKs.

In regulation, Mercer Island scored at the end of the first half.

Redmond tied it in the second half “with a beautiful cross into the goal area by Natalie Daub and Nicki Chan made sure to finish it off,” said coach Stacy Masters, who added that she’s proud of the girls’ effort while playing four games in six days.

The Mustangs held tight with Mercer Island, who beat Redmond 3-0 on Monday.

Redmond ended its season with a 9-6-3 overall record.

Allison Nakamura and Daub scored goals in Redmond High’s 2-1 home victory over Juanita High in the playoffs on Friday night.

Emma Raffman and Taylor Pisan had assists.
